This guide helps you set the language and display formats for your Composerie dashboard, and choose the language your shoppers see when they personalize a product. It is for store owners and admins who want the dashboard to match how they read dates, numbers, and currency.
Composerie keeps two language settings separate. One controls what you see in the dashboard. The other controls what shoppers see in the customizer on your storefront. You can set both on the same page.
Dashboard display
These settings change how the dashboard looks for you: its language, and the way it shows dates, times, numbers, and currency.
Open Settings, then Localization
Sign in to your dashboard at app.composerie.com. Open Settings in the sidebar, then choose Localization.
Pick your dashboard language
Under Dashboard Display, open the Dashboard language dropdown. You can choose English, Nederlands, Deutsch (beta), Français (beta), Español (beta), or Italiano (beta).
The languages marked beta are machine-translated and have not yet been reviewed by native speakers. They work, but you may notice wording that reads a little off. English and Nederlands are not marked beta.
Set your timezone, date format, and currency format
Pick your Timezone from the list. The default is Europe/Amsterdam. This controls the times shown across the dashboard, for example on orders.
Pick a Date format: DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, or YYYY-MM-DD. Then pick a Currency display format. The options show sample numbers so you can see the style, for example a euro style, a US dollar style, a UK style, or a Swiss style.
Save your changes
Click Save preferences. The button activates only after you change something.
If you changed the dashboard language, Composerie reloads the page so the new language takes effect. That reload is expected. Other changes save without a reload.
The language your shoppers see
The Customizer default language is a separate setting from your dashboard language. It controls the language shoppers see when they open the customizer to personalize a product on your storefront. Changing your dashboard language does not change what shoppers see, and the other way around.
You will find it on the same Localization page, in the Customer-Facing section below the dashboard settings. Open the Customizer default language dropdown, pick the language, then click Save preferences.
To see how this looks for a buyer, read how a shopper personalizes a product.
Does changing the dashboard language change the language my shoppers see?
No. Those are two separate settings. Dashboard language is for you. Customizer default language is for your shoppers.
Why are some languages labelled beta?
Languages other than English and Nederlands are machine-translated and not yet reviewed by native speakers. They are usable, and the beta label drops as each translation gets reviewed.
Why did the page reload after I saved?
Changing the dashboard language reloads the dashboard so the new language applies. Saving other settings does not trigger a reload.
The Save preferences button is greyed out. Why?
The Save button activates only when you change a setting. If nothing has changed, there is nothing to save.
If you get stuck, contact support.
