Connecting your store is the link that makes everything else work. Once Shopify and Composerie are connected, Composerie can read your products and receive your orders. This guide is for anyone setting up a new store, and it takes about 30 seconds. You authorize the connection inside Shopify, so you stay in control the whole time.
Shopify is the only store you can connect today. On the Connect step you will see WooCommerce and Etsy listed with “Coming soon” badges. They are on the way, but for now Shopify is the one to pick.
Start the connection
You start the connection from the Connect step in onboarding. If you have already finished onboarding, you can reach the same flow later from Integrations in the sidebar.
Open the Connect step
During onboarding, the Connect step is step 3. Its heading reads “Connect your store”. You will see the Shopify card with a “Continue with Shopify” button, and a dashed strip below it with WooCommerce and Etsy marked “Coming soon”.
Click the Shopify button
Click “Continue with Shopify”. When a hosted install is set up, Composerie hands you to Shopify’s own install page and store list. You pick the store you want to connect there, so you never have to type your myshopify.com domain.
Or use the manual option
If the hosted install is not available, you will see a link to “Enter your store URL manually”. Open it. A slide-out sheet titled “Connect your Shopify store” appears. Type your store domain, for example mystore.myshopify.com.
Continue to Shopify
Composerie checks that the domain is a valid Shopify address before it sends you anywhere. If the format is wrong, you get a clear message asking for a valid domain like mystore.myshopify.com. Once it checks out, click “Continue to Shopify” and you land on Shopify to approve.
Review the permissions you grant
Before you finish, the Connect step lists the access Composerie requests under “What we’ll access”. Expand it to read each line. Composerie asks Shopify for permission to read and write your products, read your orders and customers, and manage your themes, content, and fulfillment.
Each permission has a job. Reading and writing products lets Composerie sync your catalog and publish the personalized products you create. Reading orders lets it route fulfillment to your print provider. Theme and content access lets it add the customizer to your storefront, and fulfillment access lets it move orders through to print. You can read more about what each scope covers in install the Shopify app.
To finish, approve the request on Shopify’s own screen. This is where you grant access, and you only do it once during install. Composerie does not ask again after this.
Confirm the store is connected
After Shopify approves, you return to Composerie and the connection is done. The connected store appears with its shop name on the left and its domain on the right, next to a green check. That green check is your sign the link is live.
Click “Continue” to move on. The next step is switching on the customizer in your theme, so shoppers can start personalizing.
If the connection failed, you will see an error message on the Connect step instead of a green check. You can try again from the same step. The most common cause is approving with the wrong store or closing Shopify before approving.
Do I need to type my myshopify.com domain?
Usually no. When the hosted install is set up, you pick your store on Shopify's own list. Typing the domain is only the manual fallback.
What if I see a coming-soon badge on my platform?
WooCommerce and Etsy are marked coming soon and cannot be connected yet. Today, connect a Shopify store.
Can I connect more than one store?
Yes. Connect your first store now, then add more later from the dashboard.
How long does the connection last?
It stays connected after you approve. You grant access once during install and do not need to repeat it.
Next: switch on the customizer in your theme so shoppers can personalize your products.
