This guide helps you make Composerie show up on your storefront. You connected your store and installed the app, but shoppers still see nothing. That is expected. Composerie ships with two theme switches, and both need to be on before the customizer appears. This is for any merchant who has finished installing the Shopify app and is ready to go live.
You turn both switches on from one place in Composerie: the Make Composerie visible on your store modal. Open it from the Setup checklist row of the same name on your dashboard home page.
Why there are two switches
Composerie splits its storefront work into two parts. Each part is its own switch in your Shopify theme.
The first is the app embed. It runs on every page of your store. It is the always-on engine behind Composerie: it intercepts the cart so a shopper’s personalization travels with the item, and it watches for variant changes so the right design loads. The app embed has no visible button of its own. It is the wiring.
The second is the customizer block. This is the visible part. It puts the personalize button (or the on-page customizer) on your product pages, so a shopper can start designing.
Both switches belong to one Composerie theme app extension. That means you manage two toggles, not a code change. You never edit theme files by hand.
Switch Composerie on (the app embed)
Start with the app embed. In the modal, this is the first row.
Open the theme editor from the embed row
Click Open theme editor on the embed row. Shopify opens in a new tab with the App embeds panel showing and the Composerie embed already selected. You do not have to hunt for it.
Toggle the Composerie embed on
Switch the Composerie embed to on.
Save the theme
Click Save in the top right of the theme editor. Shopify confirms the change.
There is nothing else to set on the embed. It has no settings beyond the on/off toggle, because Composerie configures it for your store automatically. You will see one short line of text explaining why no further setup is needed.
Add the personalize button (the customizer block)
Now add the visible part. Back in the modal, this is the second row.
Add the block from the block row
Click Add block on the block row. Shopify opens your product template with the Composerie Customizer block already inserted. You do not need to find and drag it in yourself.
Move the block if you want
By default the block lands in the main product section, near your add-to-cart button. If you want it somewhere else on the page, drag it to a new spot. This step is optional.
Save the template
Click Save. The customizer block is now part of your product page.
The block has no required settings, so a fresh add is enough to make it work. There are optional Storefront fit settings if you want to fine-tune how it looks. Those live in the customizer theme block.
Confirm both are live
You do not need to refresh anything. After you click a switch, Composerie starts watching your published theme.
Once you save in Shopify, return to the Composerie tab. The dashboard checks your theme every few seconds for up to a minute. It reads your published theme to see whether the embed is enabled and whether the block is added. When it detects both, each row turns green and the modal title changes to Composerie is live on your store. The customizer now shows on every product page that has a personalizable product.
If the rows do not turn green on their own, click Recheck to run the check again right away. Make sure you actually saved in both the App embeds panel and the product template, since an unsaved toggle will not be detected.
I turned on the embed but the customizer still does not show. Why?
The embed is only the engine. You also need the customizer block added to your product template. Add it from the block row, then save in Shopify.
I added the block but nothing happens on the page. Why?
The block needs the app embed running underneath it. If the embed is off, the storefront script never starts and the block stays empty. Turn on the embed and save.
The dashboard rows are not turning green. What now?
Confirm you clicked Save in both the App embeds panel and the product template in Shopify. Then click Recheck in the modal. If they still do not flip, see the troubleshooting guide below.
Do I have to repeat this for every product?
No. The block lives on the product template, so it applies to every product using that template at once.
If both switches are saved and the rows still will not turn green, work through troubleshoot theme placement for the common causes and fixes.
