Your Composerie bill has two moving parts, and neither of them is the number of shops you run. This guide covers what actually moves the total, and the one reading of the usage ladder that catches people out. For the terms themselves, Shopify shows them before you approve: see how Shopify billing works.
A second store does not mean a second bill
Your account has one subscription. Connect a second Shopify store to the same account and it joins that subscription rather than starting another one, so you are not charged twice for the same thing.
If a second approval is started anyway, Composerie cancels the duplicate and tells you it did. The banner reads that one Composerie subscription covers all your Shopify stores, so you will not be billed twice.
What does move the subscription figure is connecting a different kind of platform. The Connected platforms card in Settings, Billing lists each connected store with a Connected badge and a price line. A Shopify store reads Included in Shopify plan.
Graduated tiers are a stack of slices
If your plan prices usage in tiers, the Pricing model tile under Usage this period says how they apply: Graduated or Volume. The Usage tiers list below it shows each tier from your Shopify contract. See read your usage this period for the whole section.
On a Graduated plan, the trap is reading the rate of the tier you have reached as the price of every item this period. It is not. Each tier is charged at its own rate for the items that fall inside it, and Current Shopify usage cost is the sum of those slices. So the ladder rewards volume going forward, and it does not refund the start of the period.
On a Volume plan it works the other way: the tier your total reaches sets the price of every item this period.
The period is yours, not the calendar’s
The Usage this period card counts against your own subscription period while that period is current, and falls back to the calendar month when it is not. If your approval landed mid-month, do not expect the counter to reset on the first.
Billable items shows what counted. When some items did not count, a line underneath shows the billable count next to the period total. See the usage dashboard.
What counts, in one line
An order line counts when it carries a design or came through one of your published products. The same design with the same personalization on one order counts once, however many lines it spans. Usage fees explained has the detail.
During a trial nothing is billed. When the period holds trial items, the line under the usage tiles says so: items during your trial stay free.
Common questions
I run three Shopify stores. Do I pay three times?
No. One account, one subscription, and extra stores on a platform you already have do not add to it.
I reached a cheaper tier. Why did my usage cost not drop?
On a Graduated plan, the cheaper rate applies to the items inside that tier, not to the ones you already sold this period. The usage cost is the tiers added together. On a Volume plan, the tier your total reaches prices every item.
Why does my usage period not start on the first of the month?
The page uses your subscription's own period while it is current. That period starts when your billing did, not on the first.
Do items I sold during the trial get billed later?
No. They are recorded so your history is complete, and they stay free.
Where do I see the exact rate for my account?
In the Shopify approval screen, and mirrored in Settings, Billing. Composerie's billing page reflects the terms you approved.
