Composerie lets you sell products that your customers personalize, then sends each order to your print partner. This guide gives you the big picture before you start. It is for anyone new to Composerie who wants to understand how the parts connect.
There are three parts to learn, and they each have a clear job. Once you know what each one does, the rest of the help center will make a lot more sense.
The three parts
Composerie is made of three parts that work together. You spend your time in the first two, and your shoppers see the third.
The dashboard is where you work. It lives at app.composerie.com. You create products, build templates, connect a print provider, and watch orders come in, all from here. When you sign in, you land on Home.
The Design Studio is the canvas. You place text, images, and shapes on your product, then mark which ones a shopper can change. Think of it as building the editable version of your product. You can learn the canvas in the Design Studio overview.
The customizer is what your shopper sees on your storefront. It shows your product, lets them personalize the parts you marked as editable, and shows a live preview before they add it to the cart.
What a typical setup looks like
Here is the path most merchants follow to go from a fresh account to a live, personalizable product. Each step has its own guide if you want the detail.
Connect your Shopify store
Connect your store so Composerie can read your products and receive your orders. Shopify is the store integration you can connect today. On the Connect step, WooCommerce and Etsy show a “coming soon” badge, so only Shopify is available right now.
See connect your Shopify store for the walk-through.
Switch on the customizer in your theme
Turn on the customizer in your Shopify theme so shoppers can personalize right on the product page. This puts the editor where your customers expect it. The full steps are in switch on the customizer in your theme.
Build a product template in the Design Studio
Open the Design Studio and decide what the customer can change. Place your text and images, then mark the editable parts. This template is what shoppers personalize. Start with your first personalizable product.
Connect a print provider
Connect a print provider when you are ready to fulfill real orders. This lets Composerie route each finished design to whoever prints and ships it. See connect a provider when you reach this step.
Publish your product and watch the first order
Publish your product to your storefront, then watch the first order arrive on your dashboard. From there you can follow it through to fulfillment. The order workflow overview explains what happens next.
The onboarding wizard frames this same path as six steps: welcome, connect your store, switch on the customizer in your theme, connect a print provider, start a trial, and publish your first product. You can follow it in order or skip ahead and come back later.
You do not need a print provider to start
You can build and preview products without connecting a print provider. That means you can set up a product, mark the editable parts, and see exactly what your shopper would see, all before you pick who prints it.
Connect a print provider when you are ready to fulfill real orders. When an order arrives, Composerie can generate the print file and route it to a connected provider. Browse the print provider guides when that time comes.
Next: create your account, then connect your Shopify store.
