This guide shows you how to browse a print provider’s product catalog inside Composerie, search and filter it, and pick a product to turn into one of your own. It is for merchants who have connected at least one provider and want to base a new product on what that provider can print.
The catalog lives inside Composerie, so you do not have to leave the dashboard to see what a provider offers. When you pick a product, Composerie carries your choice straight into product creation, where you finish setting it up.
Open a provider catalog
You reach a provider’s catalog from that provider’s page. The catalog only appears for providers you have connected and can access, so connect the provider first if you have not already. See connect a provider for that step.
Open the connected provider's page
Go to your provider in Integrations. A connected provider shows its status and a set of action tiles. If the provider is not connected yet, you will see the setup form instead of these tiles.
Click Browse Catalog
Find the Browse Catalog tile (labeled “Import products”) and click it. Composerie opens the catalog view pinned to that provider, so you only see products that provider can print.
The page URL is /integrations/providers/<slug>/catalog, where <slug> is the provider’s name, for example printify or printful. You can bookmark it to jump back to the same catalog later.
Search and filter the catalog
The catalog can hold a lot of products, so Composerie gives you three ways to find the one you want.
- Search box. Type part of a product name to narrow the grid as you go. Use this when you already know what you are looking for, like “mug” or “t-shirt”.
- Category filter. Pick a category to show only products of that type. This is useful when you want to browse a group rather than search by name.
- Load more. Larger catalogs load in pages. When you reach the end of the visible products, use load more to bring in the next batch.
Results come from Composerie’s own cached copy of the provider’s catalog, not a live call to the provider on each search. That is why the first page loads fast. Composerie refreshes this cache in the background: a full sync runs nightly, a delta sync runs hourly, and provider webhooks push updates in between for Printify, Printful, and Gelato. So a brand-new product at the provider may take a short while to appear here.
Pick a product to start creating
When you have found the right product, you hand it off into product creation. Composerie carries the provider and the product across for you, so you do not start from a blank page.
- Click a product card to open its detail view. You can see the product’s images and variants before you commit.
- Choose the product to continue. Composerie opens product creation at
/products/newwith that provider and product already preselected. - In the creation flow, confirm the variants you want to sell and the print areas you will design on. This is where you shape the provider’s base product into your own listing.
From here, building the product follows the normal flow. See create a product for the full walk-through of variants, pricing, and your storefront listing.
If you sell through more than one provider, it helps to know how Composerie decides where each order goes. See route orders across providers.
Common questions
Why don't I see a Browse Catalog button?
The button only appears for a connected provider. Connect the provider first, then return to its page.
The catalog is empty. Did I do something wrong?
No. The catalog is filled by a background sync. When a provider's cache is empty, the catalog shows no products until that sync has run. Wait a short while and reload.
A product is in the provider's dashboard but not in Composerie. Why?
The catalog is a cached copy refreshed in the background, not a live view. New products appear after the next sync or webhook update.
Does picking a product publish it to my store?
No. Picking a product only opens product creation with the provider and product preselected. You still confirm variants and print areas, then publish when you are ready.
