This guide shows you how to make the Composerie Customizer live on your storefront. It is for merchants who have already connected a Shopify store and now want shoppers to personalize products on the product page. There are two things to switch on, and Composerie gives you a button for each.
The step is called “Make Composerie visible on your store”. It appears during onboarding only when a Shopify store is connected. If you have not connected one yet, the wizard skips this step and you should connect your Shopify store first.
The step lists two rows: one to enable the Composerie app embed, and one to add the Customizer block to your product template. Each row has its own button that deep-links straight into the Shopify theme editor for that task.
Enable the app embed
The app embed loads the Composerie storefront code on your store. This is what keeps the cart and product variants in sync when a shopper personalizes a product. Turn it on first.
Find the app embed row
On the theme setup step, look for the row titled “Enable the Composerie app embed”. It sits at the top of the two rows.
Open the theme editor
Click the “Open theme editor” button on that row. It opens the Shopify theme editor in a new tab, scrolled to the App embeds panel with the Composerie embed ready.
Switch the embed on and save
Toggle the Composerie app embed on, then click Save in the theme editor.
Return to Composerie
Switch back to the Composerie tab. It starts checking your theme automatically, so you do not need to do anything else here.
Add the Customizer block to your product page
The Customizer block puts the personalize button on your product page. Without it, the app embed is loaded but shoppers have nothing to click. Add the block to the main product section.
Find the Customizer block row
On the same step, find the second row, titled “Add the Customizer block to your product template”.
Open the product template
Click the “Add block” button on that row. It opens the theme editor on your product template, with the Composerie Customizer block ready to drop into the main product section.
Add the block and save
Add the Composerie Customizer block to the main product section, then click Save. The block is pre-positioned for you, so in most themes you can save right away.
Switch back to Composerie
Return to the Composerie tab and watch the Customizer block row. It turns green once Composerie sees the block on your active theme.
If you want more detail on this block, where it lives, and how it behaves on the product page, see the Customizer theme block.
Let Composerie confirm both are live
Composerie checks the live status of your theme for you. It reads your active theme and looks for both the app embed and the Customizer block. You do not have to confirm anything by hand.
After you click a deep link, Composerie assumes you are editing the theme in the other tab. It polls your theme every 5 seconds for up to 60 seconds, so it picks up your changes within a few seconds of you saving. While it watches, you will see a short hint that says it is watching your theme.
If you finished both tasks and want an immediate check instead of waiting, click the “Recheck” button. It forces a fresh look at your theme right away.
When both rows show a green check, the primary button changes to “Continue”. Click it to move on.
If detection cannot confirm one of the items, you are not blocked. The button reads “I’ve done both”, and clicking it lets you continue anyway. The dashboard setup checklist keeps the item visible so you can come back and finish it later. You can also use “Skip for now” to handle the whole step from your dashboard later.
Why does this step not appear for me?
It only shows when a Shopify store is connected. Connect a store first and the step will appear in the wizard.
Do I need both the embed and the block?
Yes. The app embed loads the storefront code so cart and variants stay in sync, and the block adds the personalize button to the product page. The Customizer is only fully live when both are on.
Can I continue if Composerie cannot detect my changes?
Yes. Click I've done both to continue, and the dashboard setup checklist will keep the item visible until it is confirmed.
What does Recheck do?
It forces a fresh check of your active theme right away instead of waiting for the next automatic poll.
Next: create something for shoppers to personalize in your first personalizable product.
