Finish Setup With the Onboarding Checklist

See the six setup steps the wizard guides you through, and the dashboard checklist that tracks what is left after you skip ahead.

This guide walks you through the Composerie setup wizard and the checklist that picks up where the wizard leaves off. It is for new merchants who have just created an account and want to know what setup involves, what they can skip, and how to come back to anything they left undone.

The six wizard steps

The onboarding wizard takes you through six steps, then shows a Complete screen. You move forward one step at a time, and a step indicator at the top tracks where you are.

Here is what each step covers:

  • Welcome. A quick look at what you will build with Composerie.
  • Connect Platform. Link your Shopify store so orders and products stay in sync. See connect your Shopify store for the full flow.
  • Shopify Theme Setup. Switch the customizer on in your live theme so shoppers can personalize products. This step only appears when a store is connected. The walkthrough lives in switch on the customizer in your theme.
  • POD Provider. Connect a print provider so finished orders can be routed to print and ship.
  • Billing. Add a card and start your free trial. This is the one step you cannot skip (more on that below).
  • First Product. Create your first personalizable product. The full guide is your first personalizable product.

The step indicator in the top bar fills in as you go, so you can always see how far along you are.

The step indicator in the top bar marks completed steps as you move through the wizard.

Skipping and coming back

You do not have to finish every step in one sitting. Most steps have a Skip control, so you can move past them and come back later.

When you choose to skip the rest of setup, Composerie asks you to confirm first. After you confirm, it marks onboarding complete and takes you to the dashboard.

Composerie confirms before it skips the remaining steps.

There is one exception. Billing cannot be skipped, so the wizard does not show a skip control on that step. Billing starts a 30-day free trial. You add a card up front, but you are not charged until day 30, and the form tells you that you can cancel before then. For more on the trial, see start your free trial.

Skipping does not lose your progress. Anything you skipped moves to the dashboard setup checklist, so the remaining work stays in front of you.

The dashboard setup checklist

The setup checklist lives in the right column of your dashboard home. It is separate from the wizard and tracks five account tasks that round out your setup.

The five tasks are:

  • Publish a product. Get your first personalizable product live on your storefront. See publish a product to your storefront.
  • Connect a print provider. Link a provider so orders route to print and ship. See connect a provider.
  • Invite a teammate. Open the invite panel and add someone to your workspace. See manage your team and roles.
  • Upload your logo. Add your brand logo in your workspace settings. See workspace settings.
  • Customize your brand colors. Set your brand colors so the customizer matches your store.

The checklist shows progress as a count of how many tasks are done out of the total, with a row of dots above it. It highlights the next task you should tackle and gives each unfinished task a quick action to jump straight to it.

The setup checklist marks finished tasks, counts your progress, and points you at the next one.

When all five tasks are done, the checklist collapses into a short success message. You can dismiss the checklist at any time using the close control in its top corner, whether or not every task is complete.

Is the dashboard checklist the same as the wizard steps?

No. The wizard has six setup steps. The dashboard checklist tracks five account tasks that finish rounding out your setup, like uploading your logo and inviting a teammate.

Can I get the checklist back after I dismiss it?

Dismissing hides the checklist for that account. The features it points to stay available from the main navigation, so you can still publish a product, connect a provider, or set your brand colors directly.

Why can I not skip the Billing step?

Billing starts your free trial and collects a card up front. Because the trial depends on it, the wizard does not show a skip control on that step. You are not charged until day 30.
